The popularity of Bollywood music is always high and when it comes to the golden oldies the bar raises several notches higher. Add to that songs by the quintessential Asha Bhosle, and you know it is a night you don’t want to miss. And yes this one also has a heart as this event is being organized to raise funds for “Saadhya Group of Residential Schools for Specially-Abled” and the show conceptualized by Samanvitha Sharma, one of the best-known singers of Bangalore is sure to have you groove. Presented by Saama (Centre for Art and Entertainment), ‘Chitrahaar-4 (Asha Hamesha)’ is a Bollywood musical evening showcasing blockbuster hit songs of Asha Bhonsle, the versatile singing Queen if Hindi cinema. The show will feature some of the best and most-remembered songs, both solos and duets, of the legendary singer. The event will feature a wide variety of evergreen retro hits as well as new-age numbers. This exuberant musical evening will also showcase other noted singers of Bangalore and Mumbai like Chetan Rana (K for Kishore fame), Govind Kurnool, Aniket Prabhu, Subrat Sahoo, Shruti Bhide and Rohini Prabhunandan. The show will have a full- fledged orchestra under the popular keyboardist Pradeep Patkar who hails from Mumbai.
The Chitrahaar series started 4 years ago with an aim to give top class entertainment with a social cause. This year, the show showcases an interesting bouquet of songs of the most versatile artist in Indian Playback, Asha Bhonsle. The songs range from melody to mujra to pop/jazz to foot-tapping songs. Bangalore’s celebrity singer, Samanvitha has carved a name for herself both as an energetic and interactive performer on stage and an impeccable studio artist. An established playback singer in the Kannada film industry, she has travelled world over for performances. “The audience can expect extremely versatile renditions and colourful presentations interwoven in a story about the life of the legendary singer “Asha Bhonsle. Pradeep Patkar will be ably supported by an 11 piece band consisting of keyboards, guitars, drums, Congo, dholak, flute, Handsonic, rhythm pad, tabla and so on,” says Samanvitha.
Every year, Samanvitha Sharma and team conduct Chitrahaar in aid of a charitable institution which does not receive huge corporate funds. This year the show is in aid of Saadhya Group of residential schools for differently abled, a group that provides education and training to children with disability, Down’s syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy. The show is a solo show of Samanvitha Sharma. The other singers are in supporting capacity. Samanvitha usually centres her shows on female centric themes. This year, she will be rendering a versatile collection of songs like cabaret numbers, quawali numbers, soulful numbers and classic numbers of the legend Asha Bhonsle. Samanvitha is privileged to have performed in front of the legend Asha ji herself. Chitrahaar is a super hit housefuls franchise known for its top-notch music and music loving audience. The patrons and audience are deeply involved in supporting music and supporting the cause.
