Holi is different on the day you celebrate and in the days that come after. A lot of people go to skin clinics once the colour dries. Many have the same problems.
There is redness that stays, skin that stings when you touch it, and eyes that keep watering even after three days. Most of these problems can be avoided. It depends on what you do in the two days before Holi and right after you play.
The pattern is the same after each festival. Contact dermatitis can show up first. It often starts 24 to 48 hours after the festival. You may see redness, swelling, and feel itchy on the skin that touched the color the most. Chemical irritation from things used to make color is worse on parts of the skin that are thin. This includes the skin around the eyes, the neck, and the backs of the hands.
Every year, we see three kinds of patients after Holi. The first group gets skin irritation on the surface, but it goes away in a few days. The second group gets allergic contact dermatitis. This happens when the body’s defenses react to a certain dye. The third group has swelling around the eyes or feels discomfort in the eyes because some color got there.
