There is a clear shift towards shorter, more intentional stays, with guests opting for nearby staycations that offer an escape from the city without extensive travel.
There is also a noticeable mindset shift from “doing more” to “being more.” Guests are less inclined to step out and explore during peak heat and instead prefer immersive, in-property experiences that allow them to relax, recharge, and spend quality time—especially with family.
This has naturally led to a rise in experience-driven itineraries within the hotel itself, where the property becomes the destination. Wellness becomes especially significant during summer, with a focus on restorative and cooling therapies.
Hotels are increasingly adopting a climate-responsive approach that goes beyond seasonal adjustments. This includes designing spaces that naturally regulate temperature, curating programming that aligns with weather patterns, and introducing offerings that are both refreshing and sustainable.
Guests today are less interested in ticking off destinations and more focused on how they feel during their time away. There’s also a growing preference for local luxury where travel fatigue is minimised, and the experience begins the moment you arrive.
Wellness has become central to the idea of a summer escape. Guests are actively seeking experiences that help them slow down and reset—whether that’s swimming, yoga, meditation, or simply spending time in nature.
