Abner’s approach is material-led. Alabaster is the clearest expression of this philosophy. Its natural translucency and density diffuse light differently from concrete or marble, while holding its integrity in Indian conditions over time.
For the team, conscious manufacturing begins with a complete understanding of where the material originates and where it culminates. As a result, the collection sits at the intersection of that material knowledge and a design language that is both global and locally created.
Their journey has always been shaped by material exploration. Alongside technical lighting, they have also introduced concrete outdoor lighting, Spanish alabaster decorative fixtures, and marble outdoor lighting to the Indian market at a time when these categories had seen limited domestic use. More than creating new materials, we are interested in uncovering the untapped potential of existing ones and applying them in ways that are relevant to contemporary living.
At the end of life, it returns to the earth. It emits zero VOCs, remains thermally cool, and has a natural density that absorbs ambient sound. These are inherent properties of the material, not features engineered in. Our efforts are therefore focused on working with materials that perform naturally, age gracefully, and require fewer replacements.
Products across the Alabaster, Stone, Concrete, Marble, and Architectural series are available on our website upon enquiry. Our pieces range from ₹23,000 onwards. For availability and enquiries, visit abnerlighting.com or visit their experience centre in Mumbai. Unlike engineered surfaces or mass-produced finishes, alabaster possesses a natural ability to diffuse light into a soft, atmospheric glow that feels almost candle-like in its warmth.
