A getaway that is rooted in culture and sense of place, a stay at The Lotus Palace in Chettinad is all about revisiting the past with a contemporary twist.
Earlier this year I went back to Chettinad to attend KALAI and art and architecture festival at The Lotus Palace by THE Park Hotels. The property itself has been restored carefully as a brilliant architectural nod to the region.
Each of the rooms are furnished with local materials – mine had furnishing made with the local Chettinad cotton. This was once a home that belonged to the Chettiar community that has since been redone to make way for a luxury hotel. A fine example of adaptive reuse, this property is a great option to explore Chettinad and its surroundings.
