The water shortage in Bangalore’s harsh summer is a grim reminder of the fact that this is a resource that needs to be conserved and used judiciously.

Water, the elixir of life has been in the news in India and Bangalore as the city grappled with what was touted as one of the harshest summers. The rains may have erased some of those memories, but there are several organisations in Bangalore that are working on solutions that matter.

SmarterHomes

Founded in 2014, Smarterhomes is a water management company that has designed ‘WaterOn’, an IoT-based water meter that precisely measures water consumption in real-time.

Waterlab Solutions

Waterlab Solutions understands growing challenges of ground water in India and based on the principle ‘what needs to be managed, needs to be measured’.

Indra Water

Krunal Patel and Amrit Om Nayak, CEO, Indra Water, both 33, started Indra water in 2017 in Bengaluru to address the issue of wastewater treatment in industries and domestic/commercial establishments. Indra simplifies waste water treatment at source.

Uravu Labs

A startup that is building renewable water infrastructure for the 21st century, Uravu Labs was started in 2019 by 31 year old Swapnil Shrivastav, Co-Founder & CEO, 30 year old Venkatesh R.Y., Co-Founder, Sales & Marketing and 32 year old Govinda Balaji, Co-Founder, Engineering & Technology. In 2016, during their time as students at NIT Calicut, they started working on the idea of ‘water-from-air’, drawing inspiration from the Star Wars fictional universe and initially used condensation technology.

The Ground Water Company

The seed to start ‘The Ground Water Company’ was sowed in 2003 when water tankers had become a norm in Bengaluru, which was seeing suburban expansion.
