The eighth edition of the Whitefield Art Collective (WAC) 2025, a month-long pan-India Public Art Festival at VR Bengaluru, Whitefield – Bengaluru, centered around the theme “Future is Now.”
In an era where technology, society, and consciousness are evolving at an unprecedented pace, this year’s festival explores the dynamic intersection of art, science, innovation, and culture.
The festival has really grown to encompass all these aspects over time. This year, we are fortunate to partner with the British Council to host “Five Films for Freedom” dedicated to a global festival they run. Bangalore has a lot of interesting art institutions, schools, and theatres. It’s culturally a very lively city, and we’re tapping into all of that. Over the years, as you can see, this year’s edition is filled with many kinds of events, which shows just how much the festival has grown.
As for the Young Artist Program and the Basement Art Project, these are verticals we’ve had since the start of Whitefield Art Collective. As part of its commitment to nurturing emerging talent, we host the Young Artist Program as an annual competition for school children. This provides visibility, mentorship, and the opportunity to showcase their work in a prestigious public arts festival—an experience they might not otherwise have, especially alongside works from senior artists and university students. It’s very encouraging for young school children to be part of that experience.
The Basement Art Project is an initiative that transforms VR Bengaluru’s parking spaces into a dynamic underground art gallery. It features works by students from Bangalore University this year. It redefines unconventional spaces for artistic expression and reinforces Whitefield Art Collective’s belief that art is not confined to traditional galleries but can thrive in unexpected places. It reshapes how audiences and the community interact with the creative world.
