The New Year Ugadi is around the corner and this is the time you must indulge in some traditional food fare that is bound to tickle your taste buds like no other.

Ugadi celebrated in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is also called Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra, Baisakhi in Punjab, Puthandu in Tamil Nadu, Thapna in Rajasthan, Nobo borso’ in West Bengal and Cheti Chand among Sindhis.

A meal on Ugadi is an ode to tradition and recipes that include Ugadi Pachadi, Puliogare, Obbatu, Mavinkai Chitranna, Bevu Bella are all part of the delicacies.

Being the New Year, most people prefer to eat the traditional meal that day and several restaurants also offer special Ugadi thaalis too. The best part is the use of seasonal ingredients and mango is usually always part of the meal.
