There’s also a clear shift in how Gen Z approaches socialising. Alcohol isn’t the default anymore. Having good zero-proof options simply gives people more freedom to choose, without feeling like they’re missing out on the experience.
Alcohol has been one of the most consistent human behaviours across history, all deeply rooted in culture, celebration, and hospitality. That doesn’t disappear with one generation; what does change is the relationship people have with it.
Zero-proof drinks feel intentional. You still get bold flavours, interesting combinations, and a sense of occasion, without feeling drained or out of control later. It’s less about avoiding alcohol and more about choosing something that feels better for your body and your mood.
Gen Z is more aware of mental health, productivity, and balance. Alcohol doesn’t always fit into that equation. Zero-proof drinks allow you to be social, present, and part of the moment without dealing with hangovers or pressure to drink more than you want to.
Gen Z is a lot more thoughtful about what they consume, not just food and drinks, but everything. They care about quality of life, how they feel the next day, and making choices that work for them long term. These drinks appeal to them because they let them enjoy the social and sensory side of drinking without overdoing it. There’s no pressure, and no sense of compromise. They can have a great drink, enjoy the evening, and still feel good about their choice. That balance really resonates with them.
