Born in Birmingham, UK, Odedra trained in Kathak and Bharatanatyam under leading gurus across the UK and India, moving to Mumbai at the age of 15 to further his artistic practice.
His acclaimed works—including Songs of the Bulbul, Mehek, Samsara, and Rising—are recognised for their cross-cultural depth and exploration of themes such as spirituality, identity, and the human condition.
Aakash Odedra’s work has received multiple international honours, including the UK Theatre Award for Dance and Best Show at the Edinburgh International Festival 2024. He has also been awarded the British Empire Medal for services to dance and was named an Associate Artist of Sadler’s Wells in 2025.
His work, shaped by a distinctive blend of classical rigour and modern sensibility. Known for his collaborative spirit, His performances have graced some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Royal Albert Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Royal Ballet.
