It is Maha Shivaratri on March 8 and the time to pay our respect to Shiva through food that is clean, wholesome, and fresh.

While Shivaratri is associated with fasting, there are some ingredients that are considered fasting friendly. During fasting, sweet potato, sabudana and makhana are the preferred choices for the meal. These can be used in various form accompanied with curd or milk. Also, if you are celebrating the day you can choose to eat simple home cooked fare that is all about making right choices.
