A stay at CGH Visalam is all about living life king size just like the Nattukottai Chettiars who were traders from the region.

Chettinad is a region that has always been on my wish list courtesy the images of the beautiful mansion images that I had seen in magazines. And recently, I could tick it off my bucket list when I visited a mansion converted to a hotel at Visalam, a property by CGH Earth, a group known for its sustainable practices.

The property is located in Kanadugathan, Chettinad and has a bright yellow façade that feels like entering a home. I am told by Sam John, the general manager that this was built as a home by a father for his daughter.

The mansion is built in typical Chettinad style around an open courtyard and has a restaurant on the upper level. There is a beautiful lawn at the rear that also has a swimming pool and seating space where breakfast is served. If you are looking for where to stay in Chettinad, look no further.
