These women photographers are making waves capturing memories that are all about creating new age stories even as we celebrate World Photography Day on Aug 19.

Amrita Samant

Amrita has a double master’s in management and a and close to eight years of corporate experience before she gave it all up to switch to an artistic path. She is also a recent graduate from Prague Film school looking to create films into her line of work. Growing from a portrait photographer to a family-documentary photographer, trying to capture the reality of life and helping hildren in any way possible, her love for kids is real and she believes she shines most when it comes to portraying children in their element. “I also consume any spare time to use photography as a medium to either help save NICU babies by raising awareness on Breastmilk Donation or Help raise funds to nourish kids fighting cancer. Creating awareness around scars is my most recent work. which resonated with many.” She is also an educator and runs her online photography school ‘Mommy Shots academy’ with over 6000 students from across. She has worked with several celebrities such as Actor Yash, Director Atlee, Cricketer Ajinkya Rahane, Actress Gul Panag, Actress Sameera Reddy, Cricketer Suresh Raina, Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, Robin Uthappa, Murali Vijay, Lakshmipathy Balaji to name a few. “We aren’t always given what we want or get to live our lives in an ideal world. Photography has taught me to embrace challenges, hardships but still find your happiness with what/who you have around you.”

Manvi Gandotra

My work has been recognized and featured in renowned publications like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Brides “Today. I have been honoured with awards such as the GIWA for my contributions to the industry and was also selected for the prestigious IIM Bangalore Women Entrepreneur Program (GS 10K). It’s a reminder that the most profound moments often unfold in the quietest spaces, away from the spotlight. It has shown me that beauty is everywhere, in the smallest gestures, the briefest glances, and that there’s always a story waiting to be told.”

Esha Daftari

Esha is specialised in Architecture and Interior photography, she has worked as a freelance photographer since 2011 and has worked for several premium projects with various Architects and Interior designers all over the country, namely from Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Raipur, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Vadodara.

 Amulya Nagaraj

Her work has been featured in prominent publications like Conde Nast Traveller and Deccan Chronicle, reflecting her passion for exploring diverse cultural narratives. “Photography has shown me the power of perspective—how the same scene can tell different stories depending on how it’s framed. Through photography, I’ve learned patience, the importance of timing, and the art of capturing fleeting moments. It’s also reinforced the value of empathy, as understanding the subject is key to conveying authenticity in every image.” Practice using natural light to your advantage before diving into more complex lighting setups. Anjali Kanakia

Photography has taught me so much more than just technical skills. It’s given me a sense of curiosity, a keen eye for detail, and a deeper understanding of human emotions. Through my work, I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty in the mundane, to find the extraordinary in the ordinary, and to capture the essence of a moment in time.
